In 2017, I shared with you my goals for the year. I enjoyed doing it, because it forces me to stop and think of what I want to get done during the next 12 months, and then I can analyze the results and see how I did. That’s what I want to do in this blog post today!
My goals for 2018
Blogging
1. Have a month with 15K page views
I’ve always had a blog, but I’ve never had as many page views as I do now with my blog. Some might think that I am after popularity and subscribers, but that is not the case at all. The primary goal of my blog is to make technology accessible to everyone, as well as to promote computers for women and children.
The more my blog is read, the more I achieve this goal which is very important to me!
How to reach the goal:
- Continue to promote my blog posts on Facebook Groups every day
- Promote my blog on every social media I use
- reddit,
- pinterest,
- twitter,
- my Facebook Page
- my Facebook Group
- my Instagram Account
- Quora
2. Publish 30 articles
My goal was previously to publish an article every week, so 52, but that’s not realistic with my new workload.
How to reach the goal:
- Write as many articles as possible between my university sessions
- Schedule writing sessions where I focus only on writing
- Write more on the bus, when I’m on my way to university
3. Learn more about SEO
Some of you might wonder what SEO means: search engine optimization. It’s actions you take to make sure your blog posts will come out first when someone searches for information on Google. I’m interested in SEO naturally since it touches my field, technology. I would like to learn more about it because I don’t consider myself expert in this and I’d like to improve the SEO of my blog.
How to reach the goal:
- Read blog posts about SEO from experts; I heard Neil Patel is a great plate to start
- Follow the free SEO course of Moz on UDemy
4. Learn more about Google Analytics
I already know Google Analytics very well, but there are things I’m not comfortable with. The goals for example and the dashboards that can be created. I would love to fill these gaps in 2018!
How to reach the goal:
- Complete Google Analytics Academy
- Read blog posts of experts
5. Write an ebook
It is a project that is very close to my heart! I am brainstorming a topic, but I would love to create one or more ebooks to offer to my visitors!
How to reach the goal:
- Brainstorm ideas
- Ask my audience to know if they like my idea
- Figure out how I can design my ebook and where to write it
- Create a landing page to promote the ebook
- Install Woocommerce on my blog to sell the ebook
6. Social media
I like to set numerical goals for my social networks. My goal is to have an impact on the community for women in tech, so I need a voice that carries. For that, I must have subscribers. To have subscribers, I have to produce quality content. Everything is connected together! (Thanks to Sophie for her help with putting my thoughts into words)
- Get 50K followers on Instagram
- Publish more regularly on my Facebook page
- Create 12 live videos on my Facebook page
- Get 2,500 likes on my Facebook page
- Have a total of 700 images on my Instagram account
- Reach 3K followers on Twitter
- Get 1K followers on Pinterest
How to reach the goal:
- Stay active every day on social media
- Cross-promote my social media platforms
- Continue to reply to every message I receive
Conclusion
It’s now the end of my list of goals for 2018! And you, do you have any? 🙂 Share them with me in the comments!

Reading your blogging goals for 2018, I feel so much motivated. And not to feel okay when you still have much to learn and do.
Hi Iyanu!

You can learn everything you want! xx
Marie
Wow! your goals are SMART (refer to SMART goals criteria)!
Many props to you ~
S (pecific) – You a number to reach (15k monthly visitors)
M (easurable) – You can measure the number with Google Analytics
A (ttainable/ssignable) – You’ve lowered your blog post count from 52 to 30, which is more achievable
R (elavant/ealistic) – And 30 is more realistic than 52.
⌚ T (ime-bound) – And you’ve set your deadline as the end of 2018.
I do not have a new years resolution since I have an yearly/quarterly schedules that didn’t start on New Years day.
But the goal “#5. Write an ebook” looks very appealing to me. I wish to read your book .
(I will set writing a book as part of my next goal next week <- Thank you for the great idea~)
